Babesiosis

 Babesiosis is an infectious disease transmitted by ticks. Ticks carry microscopic organisms called Babesia. These organisms can also infect people and cause nonspecific illnesses with fever. Most cases occur in spring and summer. May to September The highest reported cases were in New York State and the New England region. Some cases have occurred in California, Georgia, Maryland, Minnesota, Virginia, Wisconsin, Washington, and Missouri. Severe illness can occur in people with weakened immune systems.
